A Concert To Remember
By: Carma Lopez
Date; October 2022
A lot of the students missed the Halloween concert. This event took place on October twenty-sixth, and started at 6:00 pm. It consisted of the LJHS band, orchestra, and show choir. It was held in the gym and was a few hours after the dance. Even though there were only a few students who attended, we still had lots of people there. Mostly parents, siblings, and relatives.
This was only one side of the bleachers, and more people showed up later too. In the middle of the gym you could see the orchestra and band set up. Since they had a large number of students and large instruments, they needed plenty of space, therefore setting up in the middle of the gym. Even though they took up so much space, there was still plenty of walking room.
Throughout the concert, the three programs took turns, playing a song one after another. Band played three songs, the orchestra played three songs, and the choir played two songs. It's not very clear what songs the band and orchestra played, but we do know that the orchestra played ghostbusters. They also played a song that had them scream, which was quite interesting and unexpected… Even though we're not sure what the band's songs were, they were very good at playing them.
The Show Choir sang the song double trouble, from Harry Potter, and the Wanda Vision melody. It's a small group, but they make it work. Both songs had chorography and were well thought out. Double Trouble had them just stand there and some of the students had puppets. On the contrary, Wanda Vision had movements every second of the song, and even had the Macarena at the end of it.
The last event that happened was a costume contest. Unlike the dance one, the three group teachers chose a winner for each category. The first category was funny, and an inflatable chicken costume won (to no one's surprise). The second category was scary, and a girl with a freddy cougar costume won. The last category was unique, and a girl dressed as Captain Jack Sparrow won. Each winner got a cool pen and $20. It was a good end to the night, and we hope to see you at the next concert.
