Personal Life:
Ms. Mendoza graduated from Immaculate Conception College in the Philippines. Her dream job was to be a journalist. Her favorite food to eat in the U.S has been Greek and Mexican food, while her favorite Filipino food is pretty much everything. Her favorite music artists are Evanescence, Linkin Park, and Eminem. She plays the guitar and sings. Her favorite fast food restaurants are Chick-Fil-A, Raisin’ Canes, and In-N-Out.
Teaching in the [Philippines] VS In [Nevada]:
Ms. (Ami) Mendoza- is a teacher who taught in the Philippines and recently moved to Nevada. In our interview, our plan was to compare and contrast the differences between teaching in the Philippines, and teaching in America. Ms. Mendoza, mentioned that in the Philippines the students were more cooperative and respectful. However, in the Philippines they lacked the resources that were available in Nevada. They lacked free-chromebooks and a lot of the math books that are available in the United states. However in Nevada, pretty much everything is provided. The only challenge she has had here, is family engagements and how to communicate with the families, and so behavior management is one of the challenges. She taught for 10 years while in the Philippines. The reason she chose Nevada instead of any other state is because Nevada, in the Philippines, is seen in a higher regard. In conclusion, the United States has more resources, but lacks in cooperativity and respectfulness from the students and the engagement from the parents.
